spring is coming

a note from the farmer

All signs are showing that spring is approaching and that means it is time to start growing for the 2025 season. Each year we look to extend our season, increase the variety and grow more to meet the demands of our growing customer base. This year we invested in two Caterpillar tunnels to have in our fields. These help us get a head start on the season with crops like mixed greens, beets, turnips and radish. During the summer these help improve the quality and yield of the summer favorites. As we reflect on our previous growing seasons we know our Tomatoes are a favourite. This year we will be adding additional varieties to add new colors and flavours to the lineup. Another addition to our crop plan this year is celery. We grew celery at the tail end of our 2024 season and we saw how much it was enjoyed. As a result, we will ensure that fresh celery is available for the majority of the season. We very much enjoy growing local vegetables for our community and are grateful for the support. We promise to be ready with the best the valley has to offer this May and look forward to seeing you all at the local markets and farmstand.

building update

Construction continues at 1818 Farm and Cidery.  Currently we are focusing on the outer metal siding and construction of the kitchen.  The 7000 sq ft building will have many uses.  Firstly, it is where we make our 1818 Ciders.  The cidery is full of tanks, barrels, bottles and cider!  The new building will have a commercial kitchen.  Here we will be making farm-to-table food, preserves, pickles and sauces made with our organically grown vegetables and locally sourced ingredients. The building will also be an open, three seasonal space where people can enjoy our cider and food while looking out over our working farm and orchard.  Last, but not least, our farmstand will have a permanent home where all our vegetables, cider, flowers and homemade foods will be for sale.  It will also be the pick-up location for our harvest boxes. We see this building as a big step in creating community around local organically grown food and beautiful natural ciders.  Our expected opening date is July, 2025.
